Growing

Class one have been excited today. Mr Huxley was kind enough to bring us in a courgette plant and we have enjoyed looking at it closely through our magnifying glasses and talking about what we can see.

This afternoon the F2 children have been doing some observational drawings of the plant. We can’t wait to paint our drawings next week.

… But he was still hungry!!

Today we have been tasting the fruits out of the story ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar.’ We have tried apples, pears, plums, strawberries and oranges. Afterwards we thought really hard about what our favourite fruit was and we put a photograph of ourselves underneath it on our graph. The most popular fruit in class one was strawberries, can you see what the least popular fruit was? Could you tell an adult about the fruits you tried? What did they feel, smell and taste like?

Physical play!

The nursery children really enjoy PE sessions in the hall on a Friday. We have to take off our socks and shoes and we get to dance and play on all the PE equipment. We enjoy crawling through the tunnel, sliding down the slide and climbing up the climbing frame.

Nee naa nee naa!

Class one have been very excited to see the firemen and fire engine today. Some of us got the chance to try on a fireman’s outfit and we also got to have a look inside the fire engine. The firemen explained what they do to help people (and animals!) and they showed us their ladders, hoses and ropes! We can’t wait for them to come back again already!

Happy New Year!

What a fantastic start we have had to the new year. We’ve all come back happy and exited to get learning. We also have some new faces starting with us in our nursery so we would like to wish them and their families a big welcome to class one and Haggonfields school.

Our topic this half term is ‘The Farm.’ Have you been to a farm before? What is your favourite farm animal?

Here are some photographs of what we have got up to on our first week back to school.

It’s Christmas!

Class one had a fantastic Christmas party this morning. We wore our party hats and ate some yummy party food. Afterwards we played pass the parcel, musical statues and musical bumps followed by a dancing competition! We were all very tired and full up by the end of the morning. Please see some photographs below..
